We will be choosing coaches based upon responses received. In order to properly select and organize our coaches, we need to organize our coaches, we need to understand the coaching skill sets we have at each grade to appropriately assign coaches to teams. While we will consider applications this summer (especially at younger grades), we will be actively assigning coaches this spring - ideally this application is completed as soon as possible.

No one will be allowed to coach without completing:

1. Coaches application

2. Background check

3. USA Football Certification.

Farmington Youth Football Association requires all coaches to complete an online Trusted Coaches Background Check along with a USA Football Training Certification program, which is paid for by Farmington Youth Football Association.

TRUSTED COACHES BACKGROUND CHECK

The Trust Coaches is a separate platform that is used to complete a national background check. The background check is conducted only if your background check on file with Trusted Coaches was conducted more than 1 year ago. If you have been a coach for another sport this year, you may have a background check on file, however, we still request that you to login into the Trust Coaches website, which will ONLY allow you to fill out the background check if it needs to be completed.

We have created a new season in Trusted Coaches – Farmington Youth Football - 2026 Season. The easiest way to renew/check to see if you need to renew your background check is to:

1. Go to www.trustedcoaches.org

2. Log in to your previous account (or new users create an account)

3. Click ‘Claim a Role/Join a Season’ RED button

4. Enter information below:

State: Minnesota

Organization: Farmington Football Association

Season Name: Farmington Youth Football - 2026 Season

Season Access Key: FARMFB2026

You may then need to “Accept the Role” as a Coach. On your Dashboard, you will then need to Submit Background Check and fill out the appropriate information.

Alternatively, you may be able to just login to your account, go to your Dashboard, then go to the “My Courses” icon, then scroll down to the “Nationwide Criminal Background Check” link to complete.

USA FOOTBALL CERTIFICATION

USA Football is a platform used for the certification process for Concussion, Safe Child abuse prevention and other football-related training modules. Whether you are a returning coach or new coach, you will need to login (new coaches will need to register) to the website, and then select the TACKLE CERTIFICATION option, which will then determine which certification you are eligible based on whether you were previously certified or new. Coaches will not be allowed on the practice field starting August 4th if this training is not recorded. Once you have completed the course, please save the certification degree/diploma.

Youth Coach Certification

The Minnesota Vikings are covering the certification cost for the first 700 coaches in the state of Minnesota. Coaches can use the tackle promo code below to remove the $15 fee when registering for a certification.

Certifications are flag and tackle specific. Coaches completing the certification for the first time will complete our Level 1 flag or tackle certification, while returning coaches will be automatically assigned to take the Level 2 flag or tackle recertification. Coaches can access the certification by following the steps below. Coaches must complete all modules to be certified.

2. Click "Learn More" underneath your preferred certification 

3. Click on "Get Certified"

4. Click "Continue to Payment"

Membership Details

After completing their certification, coaches will have the option to upgrade to a USA Football Coach Membership for only $25 (normally $40). As a member, they will have access to additional resources such as our Youth Tackling and Contact System, accident insurance, coaches notes, on demand videos, and more. As the promo codes above are only applicable towards a certification, coaches interested in purchasing a membership for themselves at the discounted rate are encouraged to do so after completing their certification.
